Default does anyone know the difference between d40's and tlt's?

I was looking for the difference between d40's and tlt's, and what it would take to fit d40 xvd's into tlt housings, if possible.

I thought they were pretty close in size, and I know the pinions will interchange. I was wondering how hard it would be to fit the rc4wd xvd's into the tlt housing, especially since the d40's are at rc4wd for $20 and the tlt xvd's at RCP are $60

how hard would it be to make them fit, if it's possible?
