| My GEN8 BUILD
First R/C since the mid 90's, first crawler ever. So much fun. Unfortunately, after the first run 3 shocks were sagged and leaking. The plastic caps were warped and company did not warranty nor did they have any in stock to warranty..so that started a slippery slope of mods. Front Treal brass inner, outter, and c mounts. QUE-T amazon beadlocks https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0...?ie=UTF8&psc=1 injora roof rack https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0...?ie=UTF8&psc=1 Powershift r/c battery dead man switch. redcat light kit PRO-LINE scaler shocks. But I think I ruined it with the roof rack...it looks so good but its now really top heavy. I put some soft springs on the shocks thinking it would sit low and have alot of droop etc. But as soon as it side hills kinda it just flops over. Such a bummer. Will have to play with the springs a bunch, because I dont wanna ditch the rack! May end up having to use a different one with the spare. We will see. Def needs some sticky tires, and a better esc and motor. But that's it so far. 20210117_155726 by Randy Schisler, on Flickr 20210105_122102 by Randy Schisler, on Flickr 20210109_121614 by Randy Schisler, on Flickr 20210105_123202 by Randy Schisler, on Flickr 20210121_124343 by Randy Schisler, on Flickr 20210214_121614 by Randy Schisler, on Flickr |

add more weight just try to keep it below the axle centerline and out at the wheels like this |

Maybe something to read up on but I've heard that weighting the wheels has more downside than up (increased rolling resistance/lag/centrifugal issues at speed/stress on the axle shafts and bearings) could be a bunch of nonsense but worth investigating before you do it.

That's a good looking truck. I've been known on occasion to sacrifice performance for looks. I see you are also a Seth fan...lol |

If you're going to put a half-cab body on your scout I'll understand the weight savings.....but, it's a scout body....she has a wide bottom which makes her top heavy naturally. So, with that said....go ahead and use that roof rack...put that hilift jack on the hood....put that dirt bike on the rear......install that full interior.....she is what she is and no wheel weights is going to fix that. I LOVE MY 11.26LBS SCOUT!!!!!...She's pretty!!!! Sent from my SM-N975U using Tapatalk |

Got it put together. Going to test it out today. Gotta fix the motor wiring, it bugs me. Soldered it up and was like shit!!! I am super bummed because the remote battery switch on the roofrack does not work with the esc. Gotta figure that out. May just turn it on with the button then off with the battery. The suspension is way better but it still sags only to one side for some reason. If I just twist it by the front bumper...it will rebound almost 100% on drivers side but on passenger side it will go about 50%. Cant think of anything that might bind...maybe the slight bumpsteer issue might affect it?? 20210225_153115 by Randy Schisler, on Flickr 20210225_153141 by Randy Schisler, on Flickr 20210225_153137 by Randy Schisler, on Flickr

My local creek run. Need to modify the tree root for a little more grip and widen a few spots for my fat rig. Def need some wider squishier tires though. And some tiny washers to keep the front shocks from popping off the top mounts... My club 5 servo relocation and husky links came in so I put those on over the last couple days..the instructions were fr the GEN1 so had to do things a little different. The servo cannot mount on top and the panhard bar has to mount from the back because of the lower double shock mounts. and the relocation mount just barely touches the motor. Had to bend a connection out of the way to get it to clear. 20210305_060718 by Randy Schisler, on Flickr 20210302_053844 by Randy Schisler, on Flickr |

Treal diff cover helped mine a lot. I also have the C hubs, metal bead locks and brass at all outer portals. Showdown Duratrax tires too. Mounted a 3D printed roof rack along with the interior, door handles wipers and gas cap as well as the lights. Thing performs outstanding even with the high center of gravity. Just got a winch which will help with the added front end weight. The only thing left I have to do is install the quicrun 1080 and HH Trailmaster 21t I just got for it. Do like your husky links and will probably do that too at some point.

Crawler is kinda on back burner. Someone came and ruined most of the track I built at the local spot. Not sure if it was some punk kids or some homeless idiot. And i got A e-revo..So once the new r/c smell wears off ill be back to the crawler. haha

Got tired of the E-revo breaking and a few coworkers got into the crawler scene too...so got back into the GEN8...Here is the list that I did..and o man it is so planted now. -Treal full axles/brass end to end front and rear. -Treal aluminum transfer case -Redcat aluminum transmission case -Hyrax pro10128-14. dual stage foams. -Reefs 422hdv2 servo. Have a bit of Treal on my AXE rig too. F&R Inner Portal housings, Chubs and outer housing on the rear, F diff cover is Treal. Also have the now discontinued brass perches and spring colors for the shocks. Still have stock Axle housing F&R though as the plastic just slides better and has been holding up well to my abuse. If I do have a housing issue, I'll grab a set of the new HD Housings from RC. My pig already weighs 10 3/4ish lbs. |

I went with 45 weight in the shocks as well so the little side hilling I did I had almost no body roll. But I have noticed when climbing under torque it will lift a wheel now...so not sure if that will be a huge problem or not. But man i agree it looks cool
