I had my eyes on the Hobbywing 1080 ESC for some time now, so decided it was time to get it for this rig. I paired it with the HH Crawlmaster Sport 550 13T with a 10t pinion.

I've been tweaking it for a while now, and it seems like a nice combo. Definitely smoother than the stock setup. I'm not totally satisfied with the drag brake, but maybe it's my settings.

Also got a GRC chassis protection plate for it. Good quality and better looking than the generic one I got for my other rig.

So, did a little mod with the stock battery tray.

I cut the bottom part with the Dremel and basically kept just the box that the larger batteries sit in. Used a couple of L shaped brackets that come with most bumpers or mounting magnets to attach it to the chassis.

The idea is to move the weight towards the front, in an in-expensive way and without relocating anything else. It needs a battery strap to hold the battery down and it's good to go.

I can tell, that the weight is definitely swifted towards the front, by holding it on my hand in the air. Probably raised the CG a little bit too, but will need to test it on the rocks to see if it's better or not.

Don't know if it's better of the aftermarket low CG trays, but it sure feels better than the stock position.

It's been a while since I took her out. Today we took a long walk together and it was a blast. My daughter had so much fun, driving her and shooting the video.

It's funny, because this rig, with this bodyshell, is probably the most capable of all the rigs I have. With some proper tires, it could go anywhere.

Sweet looking color. That's great it's a truck for your daughter, hopefully he enjoys it. I personally don't like the mercedes, but it's whatever you like, that's all that matters.

Thanks Levi. It was built according to her instructions, so it's definitely ''her'' truck

I think most people on your side of the Atlantic don't really like the Mercedes, like most people in Europe don't have the feelings you do for the old Broncos, Blazers etc. I think it's just a matter of the influences we had growing up.

It's very misunderstood this Mercedes. I think it's the best performer out of the box, between all the TRX-4 models.

I think it's mainly because in the States we mainly see the blinged-out mall crawler versions, and Traxxas chose to make their version look a bit too chromed-out. I really wish they had chosen a different vintage!

The MB Gelandewagen has been around for ages in Europe (since '79), I remember seeing them when I visited family in Germany going many decades back:

And could you imagine if Traxxas released the military one!

The military version is a beast! We actually have some of those, in pickup form, at work, and they can literaly go anywhere.

Indeed!

And we would have the Proline Grunt tires as perfect scale rubber for it, as well...

I like the G-Wagon but not the 1:1 "4x4²" version or the Traxxas mini copy. That "style", if you can call it that, is a real thing and the 1:1s look just as Hot Wheelsy, d-bag mall crawler as the TRX.

If Traxxas did do a vintage, military or even just not the 4x4², they could convince me to buy their TRX4 G-Wagon.

You can always convert it to something else

I pretty sure "converting" to a standard G-Wagon from the 4x4² would just be a matter of shorter shocks and more moderately sized wheels/tires but it would still be cool to have the "downgraded" options in an RTR.

Got my hands on the Midland H5 Pro action cam and took the rig down at the local test course to see how the cam performs. Put the Trenchers on the rig while at it.

I like everything about this rig, where did you find that scale exhaust?

Thank you

Those scale exhaust come standard on the G-Wagon 4x4 and G-63 6x6 (TRX6).

They bolt to the underside of the side plates.

Thanks mate! Like smc-93 said, they come stock with the Mercedes, but you can get them as spare parts as well.

They tend to rub a lot on the rocks though.

Got together with some friends the other day. We are trying to get together a local RC crawler club.

Been tampering around with this one lately. Trying to make it a little bit more rock capable.

Removed the exhausts and put the Trenchers on. It now has the Flysky FS-GT5 rx and tx, so replaced the last Traxxas micro servo with an Injora one to run at 7.4V (supposedely they can handle that - needs to be proven 😂)

Had a go at the rocky area of the abandoned go-cart track near my place. Looks good, but I have ideas to improve it more.

I wanted to make a short video of it crawling, but got caught in the action and turned out a bit on the longer side 😄
