Default Losi TLR Tuned LMT kit

New release on the LMT platform and it's a kit this time (not a roller) with no wheels or tires. The modifications seem to be in service of a lower center of gravity and better handling, at the cost of some scale realism and, well, cost. When you look carefully at all the new aluminum and carbon parts the $600 price might be justified... but probably only for actual racers. Losi must have done the math and figured out the monster truck racing scene has gotten big enough to justify this release. Which is good I guess, but for me it's weird being a 1/10 monster truck bashing fanatic who isn't feeling any want for the new hotness.

I agree, that dedicated MT racers will likely love this, but the competitive guys are always going to scoop the hot new thing.

The original LMT with just a few mods really is a solid basher, and the scale aspect of it lends itself to a much wider market. I scored the LMT as a roller for less than $300, and I bought it so my kids could drive it (and they love it).

The race chassis wouldn't sway me to pony that extra cash up. But I'm not a racer.

Horizon is going after the competitive RC market, first with the SCX10 Pro and now this LMT. The difference is the Pro can be made to use as a trail truck and is priced a little more reasonably compared to other options out there, so it applies to more people, rc crawler comps happen all over the US as well. It's an interesting trend, part of me wonders if they will release a comp oriented SCX24 next.

I am not sure where this LMT fits, though. I'm reading some complaints that it is illegal in every class for some rules and it doesn't fit the LMT class, so some leagues won't have a place for it. Given the price and it being a limited run, not sure I see them adjusting the rules or having a specific class for it either. It's definitely not a basher and most of the hardcore racers will already have a real similar setup. The LMT roller is now discontinued, so it's probably cheaper to buy this kit than buy the RTR and upgrade it, but the cost is a little steep too esp using the original axles.

I went back and forth, almost bought it, but the closest MT race league is a long ways away from me and I have no use for it at $600. IMO they'd have been smarter to release a 1/24 or 1/18 LMT. I might have been more excited about this if I got any traction on starting a solid axle MT league here, but there is very little interest compared to crawlers.

I was just thinking of putting together a scale monster truck and thin the email showed up this morning with this in it. It intrigued me but the price isn’t for me, id rather smash a rtr for a while or build one out.

I see rumors of Gen3 axle housings. Any truth to this, because that's the only parts I really want off of this.

Same main housing, but the third member uses a larger bearing so that piece is different.

I seen somewhere that the housings have just a lil bit more internal webbing around the lower link mounts
